Yaz Plus is a combination oral contraceptive pill, primarily used to prevent pregnancy. It contains:Ethinyl Estradiol (an estrogen) – 0.02 mg, Drospirenone (a progestin) – 3 mg, Levofolate (a form of folic acid) – 0.451 mg. The pill comes in a 28-day pack, where 24 active tablets are taken in a specific order, followed by 4 inactive (placebo) tablets. The active tablets help prevent ovulation, thicken cervical mucus to block sperm, and thin the uterine lining to reduce the likelihood of pregnancy. The placebo tablets help maintain the habit of daily pill-taking while allowing for a withdrawal bleed (similar to a period).
